A Brief History of the Development of
E-SAFE© Environmentally-Safe Cleaner
E-SAFE© was formulated in 1996 as a companion product to PRA©.PRA© was our original product designed to clean the wax from crude oil storage tanks and oil wells.
PLUTUS was asked by oil companies to formulate a product which would remediate the drips, leaks and spills of crude oil at wells and oil storage sites. The product had to be safe for operators use, not pose a static or flash problem, and must be easily and rapidly applied with a minimum of time and equipment.
It was requested that a simple spray delivery with no secondary recovery should be designed. E-SAFE© meets that requirement in that application is achieved through delivery to small area spills with a simple hand-held spray bottle or garden sprayer. Large areas may be treated with a farm or orchard sprayer, or via aerial application.
E-SAFE© is used for the remediation of soil contaminated by oil spills, petrol or diesel. After all recoverable hydrocarbon is pumped away or mopped off, spray the contaminated area with E-SAFE© until the ground surface is moist. A pump-up 2-5 gallon sprayer is the preferred E-SAFE© delivery system for small areas of contamination. Large areas are best treated with a vehicle mounted spray system. After applying E-SAFE© allow it to penetrate so that the flashpoint of the vapor is eliminated, than soak the area with water. E-SAFE© is infinitely soluble.
The water will actually assist the deep penetration of E-SAFE© into the soil. E-SAFE© will break the hydrocarbon chain on contact. The resulting hydrocarbon factions become nutrients for naturally occurring bacteria in the soil. When the bacteria consume the hydrocarbon factions all contamination is neutralized and eliminated.
Dangerous oil, diesel or petrol spills resulting from road accidents should be liberally soaked with E-SAFE©. E-SAFE© will knock down the flashpoint. E-SAFE© also will retard fuel ignition and remove any grease or oil deposits on the road.
Smooth surfaces such as smooth concrete, epoxy, linoleum, tile, terrazzo or vinyl can be mopped with a solution of one cup E-SAFE© to one bucket of hot water. No film or residue will remain. This treatment greatly reduces or eliminates the danger of personal injury from slip and fall accidents.
Spray the area with E-SAFE©, then hose or mop the treated area. No film or residue will remain and flash danger is eliminated.
Shop floors that are hard to clean and maintain, adjacent hallways, walls, and entrances can be cleaned of oil and grease accumulations with E-SAFE©.
Rough textured surfaces such as broom finished concrete or asphalt walkways and ramps can be sprayed with E-SAFE© and scrubbed with a deck brush where there are extra heavy concentrations. It can then be rinsed with a hose or pressure washer.
Asphalt or concrete surfaces treated with E-SAFE© have no film or residue remaining after the treated area has been rinsed with clean water or rainwater.
E-SAFE© can be used on wet roads and may be applied in rainy or frozen conditions. The rainfall or ice melt will actually assist the biological activity resulting from the E-SAFE© application.
Hydrocarbon drips, leaks or spills inside structures are treated the same as traffic accident spills. Using a hydrocarbon absorbent boom, rag or wipe, mop up all possible hydrocarbons in the contaminated area.
Hydrocarbon factions become nutrients for naturally occurring bacteria in the soil. When the bacteria consume the hydrocarbon factions all contamination is neutralized and eliminated.
Vehicle repair service pits and floors, fuel drop areas, petrol station forecourts, fuel loading racks and storage areas all accumulate oil and grease from hydrocarbons. E-SAFE© effectively eliminates all of these problems with a simple spray, wipe and clean water rinse. The oil and grease is reduced to harmless, non toxic compounds.
E-SAFE© is recommended as a pretreatment for all approved industrial and commercial hazardous waste treatment processes. E-SAFE© increases the amount of biological activity taking place during the waste process. This enhanced activity accelerates the treatment process.
E-SAFE© is also effective in treating heavy mould and mildew accumulations on exterior surfaces. Spray with E-SAFE© and rinse with a pressure washer. The rinse will provide extra protection against mould and mildew reappearance. One gallon of E-SAFE© is added to 200 gallons rinse water.

PLUTUS E-SAFE© is a unique, concentrated, multipurpose cleaner for hydrocarbon contaminants that far exceeds the efficiency of other degreasers and emulsifiers normally used in the oil and transportation industry. E-SAFE© neutralizes hydrocarbon based oils and greases by molecular conversion into harmless, non-toxic compounds.
The oils and greases are converted via saponification into a compound which in turn cleans separators and drain lines. The resultant run off is water soluble and environmentally safe for disposal on soil and in sewers.

E-SAFE© Application Instructions
General Hard Surface Clean Up
Step 1
Before beginning any treatment process make sure all SAFETY GUIDELINES and PROCEDURES are in place. If in doubt about correct procedure, then check with SAFETY OFFICER or HSE before proceeding. PLUTUS Environmental Solutions or its associated or subsidiary companies shall not be held liable or at risk for any safety violations or errors by the user.
Step 2
Recover all possible standing hydrocarbons for disposal or recycling.
Step 3
Apply PLUTUS E-SAFE© with sprayer or power wash unit. If a power wash unit is not used then the application should be allowed to set for 2 to 5 minutes to penetrate the build up.
Step 4
Rinse remaining residue with clean water. Hot water is preferred but not required.
Step 5
If an unacceptable amount of buildup remains repeat Steps 2-4 until satisfactory.
Hydrocarbon Contaminated Soil
Step 1

Step 2
Recover all hydrocarbons possible. Solids or liquids often collect in pockets or seeps. If these can be recovered or removed for disposal or recycling then the volume of application of PLUTUS E-SAFE© can be reduced.
Step 3
Thoroughly till or cultivate the soil with mechanical equipment. The soil should be cultivated as deeply as necessary depending upon the severity of the contamination.
Step 4
Apply PLUTUS E-SAFE© with spray wash or irrigation equipment until soil is fully saturated. Initial treatment is 1 gal./100 sq. ft. of contaminated surface.
Step 5
Allow the application to penetrate the soil for at least 8 hours. If rainfall occurs, the process will actually be enhanced.
Step 6
If no rainfall occurred during Step 4 water should be applied to the contaminated area to re-saturate the soil. This water application should be allowed to penetrate for at least 4 hours.
Step 7
Cultivate again when soil has dried and test for hydrocarbon contamination. If hydrocarbons are still present at unacceptable levels another application may be needed. Repeat Steps 1-7 until desired level is achieved.
NOTE: Sandy soils and noncompacted gravel areas can be effectively treated without being tilled or cultivated.
